Mason Station pays $220K in back taxes
Thu, 12/22/2016 - 7:15pm
“Mason Station LLC paid the taxes on the former Mason Station, $220,834.50,” Wiscasset Town Manager Marian Anderson reports in an email to news media Thursday afternoon. The 4:29 p.m., Dec. 22 email adds that five other lots remain unpaid. The amount owed is in the $17,000 range for each of the five.
The town recently proceeded with foreclosures on the plant and other lots for the unpaid taxes. The foreclosures were set to take effect Dec. 29. Mason Station LLC and Joseph Cotter have pitched a marijuana dispensary, destination spot and production plant for the site. Anderson has said all the taxes would need to be repaid before the town would entertain any proposal from the current owners.
