Hospital bazaar features wreaths, greens, more
Holiday greens and wreaths will be features of the annual Holiday Bazaar of the Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary Friday, Nov. 30, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Café Conference Rooms, 123 Medical Center Drive, off Bath Road.
Twenty-five to 30 dozen balsam wreaths from Skillin’s, made from fresh Maine greens, will be sold at the bazaar. Orders are being taken until November 27 at the Mid Coast Hospital Gift Ship at 207-373-6018, with pick-up at the bazaar.
Becky Clow, wreath sale chairman, said the price remains the same this year: $12 for a wreath with a red bow; $10 without a bow; and new this year, $30 for a wreath decorated with Maine sea shells and a red bow.
These new coastal Maine wreaths provide the opportunity to keep summer in your home during the holidays.
Last year for the first time, the auxiliary sold lovely decorated wreaths and these proved to be great sellers, because few are found in the Midcoast region.
Cyndy Bush will be using her talents to decorate the fresh wreaths, which could be used in or out of doors, and will have red bows.
Auxilians expect to make another 100 baskets of decorated greens for sale at the bazaar, as well as other kinds of arrangements. Pat Laz, chairman of greens said, “We will have our greens arrangements designed with all natural materials priced from $15 to $40 plus.
“We will have a wonderful selection of mugs filled with boxwood, colorful decorations and ribbons, priced at $10.
“Lovely kissing balls will be $30. One-of-a-kind handmade boxwood trees will be available as well as some very unique antique items, including a toboggan, skis and wrought iron planters. Decorated candle jars will be $20.”
Holiday homemade baked goods will be a big feature of the bazaar as usual, with yeast and quick breads, pies, coffee cakes, fudge and the huge seller: plates of mixed Christmas cookies. Donations of baked goods may be left in the volunteer office November 28-29, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no need to package them, as volunteers will package them in cellophane bags with ribbons and tags, making them ready for gift-giving.
A table of treasures and antiques will be another feature, as will locally made soaps and lotions.
This year at the bazaar, payment may be by VISA, MasterCard, cash or check. Proceeds benefit health career scholarships and the auxiliary’s $150,000 pledge for the walk-in clinic in downtown Brunswick.
The hospital cafe is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Monday-Friday.
