Former wine outlet turns seafood market
Cecelio Juntura was born into a fishing family in the Philippines. Now the Topsham man is poised to open Home Seafood Market in Wiscasset, to sell lobster and other seafood caught by area fishermen.
Juntura plans to also sell take-out lobster rolls and other sandwiches, along with oriental groceries. The business' location, on Route 1's northbound side known for its summertime traffic backups, could help with sales, he said.
“They'll be hungry,” he said of motorists.
A Mainer since 1980, Juntura has relatives in the Wiscasset area and is a longtime local businessman. His restaurant, Taste of Orient, is a short drive south on Route 1 from his new business.
He expects to open Home Seafood Market in April. He got the building in a March 2013, Bank of Maine auction and has been renovating it off and on since then, doing much of the work himself, he said.
The building was a restaurant for many years, and most recently housed a wine outlet.
Juntura was still finalizing the market's hours; it will have five or six part-time employees, he said.
