The chamber is looking for business owners interested in helping launch a buy local campaign for the Wiscasset area.

What does buy local mean for the Wiscasset area? It means a stronger, more resilient local economy benefiting our communities and will build awareness of the importance of shopping locally.

In 2010, Bloomberg Business Week reported that for every $100 spent locally, $45 of those dollars stay in that community. This is a huge re-investment in our communities just by local people making an active choice to shop locally.

In order to tailor a buy local campaign to the needs of local businesses, the chamber needs the involvement and participation from those same businesses to help set up the framework for a successful campaign. The chamber is looking for 7 to 9 business representatives from the Wiscasset area to participate on a steering committee.
