Jonathan D. Roberts, 45, of Waban, Massachusetts, facing a charge of manslaughter in the death of Kristen McKellar on Aug. 2, 2018, when his boat allegedly hit McKellar as she swam in Damariscotta Lake, has a Rule 11 hearing at 1 p.m. July 29 in Superior Court in Wiscasset.

A Rule 11 hearing is scheduled when a defendant wishes to change a plea. Roberts pled not guilty to the manslaughter charge and other associated charges on Feb.11.

In Portland in May, Roberts had a settlement conference, sometimes called a pre-trial conference. They are typically, but not always, for the purpose of finalizing financial agreements between the parties. No information about the May conference is available at present, according to Assistant D.A. Matthew Gerety.
