Rising Tide’s first Wednesday discount May 7 benefits farms
On Wednesday, May 7, all shoppers will receive a 10 percent discount on their purchases at Rising Tide Community Market in Damariscotta, and a portion of sales will be donated to FARMS (Focus on Agriculture in Rural Maine Schools).
The First Wednesday 10 percent discount occurs monthly, and is an opportunity for shoppers to save money while supporting local nonprofits.
Wednesdays are Co-ops for Community Day at Rising Tide, and a portion of all Wednesday sales (including First Wednesday 10 percent discount days) are donated to a different local nonprofit each month.
FARMS will receive .5 percent of Rising Tide’s Wednesday sales for the month of May. FARMS’ mission includes offering hands-on experiences for people of all ages to develop expertise in cooking and gardening and a passion for healthier living, and providing education about good nutrition and the role of local farms in promoting healthy, sustainable communities.
The FARMS Community Kitchen and Food Learning Center currently occupies the second floor of Rising Tide’s building, where they offer ongoing classes on farming, food and nutrition. More information can be found at www.mefarms.org.
