Primary school property on planning board agenda tonight
A prospective applicant for a project at the former Wiscasset Primary School property is set to meet with the Wiscasset Planning Board tonight, Monday, Jan. 23. The board meets at 7 p.m. at the municipal building.
Town Planner Ben Averill said Monday morning, the meeting will be held in the meeting room unless the 5 p.m., downtown project advisory committee is still going on, in which case he was looking at the fire department’s portion of the building as a backup space.
Under applicant, the agenda lists “Jon Williams and associates.” The request states “Pre-application site plan review conference.” The site plan would involve 146 Gardiner Road, according to the agenda. That’s the former school property, for sale since Wiscasset consolidated from three schools to two in 2015.
Averill said Williams had not yet submitted any materials for the board to review. Attempts to reach Williams were not immediately successful.
Last year, the town cut the asking price on the property to $525,000. In December, town officials anticipated closing on a sale with a taxable owner in January. Averill on Monday morning said a closing has not yet occurred. No further information was immediately available.
