Garden Club of Wiscasset to hear about plant disease

The Garden Club of Wiscasset will have its next program at 1 p.m. on May 4 in Fellowship Hall of First Congregational Church, 28 High St., Wiscasset. A brief business meeting is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
Dr. Alicyn Smart will speak about plant diseases and management. She is the interim director of Northeast Plant Diagnostic Network, U Maine Cooperative Extension Service. She will also discuss the role the Plant Diagnostic Lab has as a resource for identifying diseases on plant samples from the green industry, farmers and homeowners in Maine.
Refreshments follow the program, which is free and open to the public.
Reminder: The GCW Plant Sale is on May 13 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Wiscasset Municipal Building on Route 1.
