Edgecomb Thrift Shop reaches 10-year milestone
In celebration of the Edgecomb Thrift Shop's 10-year anniversary of service to our communities this month, everything in stock will be offered at 50 percent off.
It all started in early November of 2005. Two newly retired women realized that they needed to find something to do. The Edgecomb Community Church had a new kitchen, and the old one was just collecting “stuff.”
So fixtures were ordered, walls were painted, and donations began to arrive.
No one had expected there would be money, but there it was! The decision was made to donate those funds to area agencies that focused on helping children and elders.
The Edgecomb Thrift Shop is a small one, open just eight hours a week, but over the past decade, more than $65,000 has been given to the community, and to the church.
In addition, a weekly lunch is funded by the shop, and nearly 10,000 meals have been served. Lunches are served every Tuesday at noon, and the community is encouraged to attend. It is offered at no charge, and this is a great social opportunity to meet your neighbors and make new friends.
The shop is located in the lower level of the Edgecomb Community Church at 15 Cross Point Road in Edgecomb.
