Cooking, composting and more at Boothbay Region Adult Ed
At Boothbay Region Adult Ed you can learn to make delicious conserve, chutney, and relish just in time for the upcoming holidays.
Are you thinking about composting to enhance your garden soil next spring? Join Nick Ullo and Tracey Hall from Boothbay Region Land Trust who will show you how easy it is. Do you plan to take lots of photos during the holidays? If so, we have two upcoming classes you might like: Editing Digital Photos and Taking Great Photos.
Join Nadine Reimer (a UMO Extension educator) for a hands-on class to make delicious Conserve, Chutneys, and Relishes to share with family or give as gifts. Learn the basics and steps of water bath canning to ensure a successful, safe preservation. You will be making apple raisin cranberry chutney, a plum conserve, and corn relish. Recipe and techniques handouts will be available. Take home what you make. The class is Thursday, Nov. 15, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $12, plus $10 to the instructor on class night for supplies. Register by November 12.
Join Nick and Tracey again as they connect the kitchen to the backyard for a playful presentation about turning garbage into garden gold in Composting Chefs Wednesday, Nov. 14. Building a backyard compost pile is like creating a dish for dinner. The right combination of ingredients, time and temperature form a gourmet meal for gardens and yards. The fee is $5 plus a $5 donation to BRLT on class night.
Editing Digital Photos on your computer is a two evening class November 13 and 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. Learn how to work with your digital photos to crop, enhance colors and make other corrections. The cost is $28.
There are still a few spaces left in Basic Excel on November 14, 19 and 20.
Upcoming classes during the week after Thanksgiving include Taking Great Photos, Intermediate Computer and Microsoft Word for Home and Business. Candymaking (Needhams) on November 27 has a few spaces available.
